Towerbound (Infest)

You are not the hero. You are the parasite.

Towerbound is a stealth-puzzle dungeon crawler where you play as a vulnerable, shapeless parasite trying to descend through a dark, hostile tower. You have no attacks and a single hit will kill you. Your only weapon is the ability to burrow into your enemies and take control of their bodies.

Core Mechanics

• Seize Control: You cannot fight the creatures guarding the tower. Instead, corner them and press E to infest them, stealing their form, their stats, and their abilities.
• The Disguise Rots: Wearing a host body fools the other creatures—but only for a time. The longer you wear a host, the more suspicious the horde becomes. Move quickly before your cover is blown.
• Torn Apart: If the horde realizes you're an imposter, they will rip the host body off of you, leaving it as a frozen husk and spilling you out onto the cold stone floor. You'll have a split-second to scramble away or dive into a new host before they crush you.
• Beware the Sentinels: While you are bare and exposed, you are utterly defenseless. Sentinels will instantly strike if they catch sight of your true form. Stay hidden, or stay hosted.

Find the pulsing violet beacon on each floor to descend deeper into the darkness.

Keybindings

• Arrow Keys: Move / Crawl
• E: Infest an adjacent creature / Seize host / Eject from host
• SPACE: Use the host's special ability (if they have one)
• ESC: Pause the game / Open Menu

Developer Note

This is a game jam entry and is ultimately unfinished! I would have loved to add a lot more cool things, polish, and animations, but ran out of time. You'll just have to roll with it as it is! Thanks for playing.
